Shirgaon is a village in Solapur district of Maharashtra, India. It is from the holy place well known for pandurang or Vittal, Pandharpur. Long before the shirgaon was located near to Maan river. But in search of better place it moved away from river inside away from highway. It has the more land area than other villages in panchkroshi (group of villages). Shirgaon has rich cultural history. It is having blessings of lord Mahadev or Shankar and Hanuman. The temples are of Hemadpanthi style. The main celebrated events in Shirgaon are Bhandara of Mahadev when devotees from nearby places visit the Mahadev temple. The programmes of Bhajan, Kirtan arranged on this occasion. The another big event is Vetalbaba's Yatra. The main attraction of this event is the programmes such as Tamasha (Lavni programme) or drama when people from surrounding villages gather to see in nights. Also people celebrate the goddesses Lakshmi and Mariaai yatras. The Ganesh festival, Jotibachi Palkhi, Goddess Tulja Bhawani festival are also celebrated with same enthusiasm. The Ghadage family is largest in Shirgaon. The village is also known as Ghadage's shirgaon. They belong to 96 kul Maratha cast. The kuldaivat is ''Jotiba of Kolhapur'', the avataar of God Shankar. The Shirgaon population is divided in 4 areas called as ''main gaon'', ''varcha mala'', ''Pimpalacha mala'', and ''Wadekar Mala''. The sugarcane, Jawar are important crops taken by farmers.
